COMPANY HISTORY

Mayo Engineering Ltd was founded by Peter R. Mayo to provide equipment and services to the investment casting industry. The Mayo family have been well known to the investment casting industry since the 1960s. Click here to view our list of current customers.

It soon became apparent that there was a ready market for used investment casting machinery as well as new equipment, which resulted in Mayo Engineering branching out into used equipment sales, and to also offer a part-exchange service for investment casting machinery.

In 1995 Mayo Engineering added sand and die casting equipment to their sales portfolio, and a number of major foundries were purchased and sold worldwide by Mayo. In addition, foundry closure sales have been handled by Mayo Engineering on behalf of a number of major auction companies in both the UK and across Europe.

In recent years Mayo Engineering have added sheet metal and machine tools to their equipment sales, and plant & asset valuations and sales were added in 2000.

In 2016 Mayo Engineering Ltd moved into the outdoor leisure industry with the purchase of the designs, assets, tooling, existing stock and clients of the BarbeSkew range of rotisserie barbecues, and Mayo are continuing to develop the BarbeSkew range of products.

In 2023 it was decided that Mayo Engineering would no longer sub contract the manufacture of our range of investment casting machinery as we had for many years, and it is all now built by Mayo Engineering’s own team. These are exciting times for us, as our new range of wax and ceramic core injectors really do lead the way, and we feel a considerable technological leap forward from anything available on the market worldwide.
